The smooth-running vertical blinds are suspended from moving carriages which are displaceably mounted in a support rail (10) and are moved into the open and closed position for the blinds by cables (35). The cables have guide carriages (11) which are fitted with support rollers (22) which prevent the guide carriage from canting. Guide faces (33) are provided on the support rail (10) either side of the support roller (22). The support roller (22) is mounted on a support (21) which can be set on the body (20) of the moving carriage in order to form the guide carriage, reducing the manufacturing costs. This support (21) preferably comprises a U-shaped base plate (23) which engages over the upper edge of the carriage body (20) and a horizontal arm (24) which at its angled end (25) supports the axis of the support roller (22).
