The convertible chair-bed comprises three upholstered cushions (A, B, C) of equal length and width which are hinged together along their transverse edges so that they can be swivelled relative to each other to allow conversion from a bed to a chair or compact high pouffe position. The upholstered section (C) or back rest stands on the ground along one narrow surface surface (c1) and the detachable hinge (2) is mounted in the intersection line of the two sections (A, C) i.e. at the end (a3, c2) of the seat depth. An extra L-shaped upholstered cushion (D) can be provided which raises the height of the back rest and increases its depth at the top so as to shorten the depth of the sitting surface to provide greater comfort.
