The brushless dc motor, with inductive commutation and for open-end spinning equipment, has a permanently magnetic rotor and polyphase stator windings. The rotor (1) has a conducting ring or cage, and the stator polyphase auxiliary windings to generate the rotating field that starts the rotor moving in a given direction as in a cage motor. The auxiliary windings are located in the housing (25) and extend around the circumference through an angle of 90 deg. The auxiliary windings are situated in slots in the stator laminae which are in turn enclosed by the housing and constructed in segments.
