Photoelectrophoretic colour copying process - using light-sensitive particles reacting with developer layer on electrode on heating

A photoelectrophoretic recording process for colour images comprises (a) placing between 2 electrodes, =1 of which is (partly) transparent, a layer of a suspension, in an insulating carrier liq. of light-sensitive particle contg. a light-sensitive component (I) e.g. polyvinylcarbazole (deriv) and a coloured component (II), which is capable of reacting with a developer layer (III) on the electrode(s) on heating; (b) simultaneously producing an electric field between the electrodes and exposing the suspension selectively through the transparent electrode, so that an image of light-sensitive particles forms on the electrode(s); and (c) heating to effect the reaction between these particles and (III). The process is simple and gives permanent copies.
