1455619 Supporting manhole frames CORROSION TECHNICAL SERVICES Ltd 29 Nov 1974 [9 Sept 1974] 39215/74 Heading E1G [Also in Division F2] A load-carrying member such as a machinery base or a manhole frame 5 is bedded on a foundation 2 by (a) placing on the foundation one or more axially-compressible open-ended moulds 10; (b) placing in the mould a bonding agent which includes a thermo-setting resin; (c) placing the member 5 on the mould(s); and (d) compressing the mould axially-either by the weight of the member or by a superimposed load-until the member is pressed into contact with the bonding agent. The bonding agent is thus contained laterally by the compressed moulds. As described the method is used for raising a manhole frame 5 to the level of new surfacing 4, tiles 9 being stacked to limit the mould compression to the desired amount. The moulds 10 may be of foamed polyurethane; the bonding agent preferably comprises a specified composition of a polyester resin with silica filler and catalyst, but epoxy resin or polyurethane compositions may be used.
