Ring spinning or twisting machine yarn break tripping device includes a tripping shaft supporting a number of pivotally mounted tripping levers one for each station and for the purpose of preventing of tripping of the whole machine when only a single yarn break occurs at a station the lever is associated with an arresting lever movable against the bias of a spring arrangement between an operative position in which it intercepts the tripping lever following occurrence of a yarn break to prevent from contacting a tripping shaft and an interlocking position in which the avesting lever holds the tripping lever through the intermediary of an abutment carried by the tripping lever and contacting the avesting lever.
