ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA two-part histologic tissue processing and embeddingstructure comprises an open-ended base pan and a perforated topmember. For processing, the base pan and top may be snap-fittedtogether to form a compact housing for holding and transportingthe tissue specimens through the various processing liquids. Forembedding, the top is inverted so that the top and base pan maybe loosely seated together as a mold for receiving paraffin whichsolidifies to embed the tissue specimen. For slicing, the basepan is used as a microtome clamp aligning device and is thenremoved and the top serves as a mounting device for mounting theembedded specimen in a microtome clamp during slicing, and forstorage the base pan may be secured back onto the top and placedover the remaining unsliced embedded specimen for protection.
