Yarn mfr. from natural and chemical fibres is facilitated by feeding the fibres through a non-rotatable spinning chamber in the interior of which a vortex-type fibre ring is formed where the axial components of the air stream equal nil. The fibres are seized from the stationary vortex ring by the yarn and in doing so the yarn is shaped and twisted on leaving the chamber.
