Effect yarns prodn - by open-end spinning through intermittent fibre feed

In order to provide different speeds for the feed rates for the sepd. fibres from the sliver and the withdrawal of the yarn from the open-end spinning unit, the rollers to break down the sliver are arranged so that one is on an eccentric mounting. The result is that the fibres are fed intermittently by time units so that the yarn has alternating zones of thin and thick diameters. The sliver feed can be extended to give other colours and/or qualities to extend the effect yarn range.
