The device comprises axial integral, or separate snap-off, pin (2) with spring-retaining barbs (2c) which effect a clamping of the fabric (3) between the barbs and the button base plinth (1a) once the pin is forced through the fabric: an elastic length of the pin shaft (2b) between the button head and the barbs facilitating the drawing of barbs through the fabric. The pin shaft emanating axially from the button constitutes sequentially an elastic length (2b), leaf type radial barbs (2c), a snap-off necking (2d) and a tempered pointed length (2a). Two, three or four barbs are pref. utilized and a separate pin forming a U is utilized with pre-holed buttons.
