Simultaneous prodn of motor and jet fuels - by two-stage hydrocracking with different catalysts after hydrotreatment

High-octane motor fuel and a high-grade jet fuel are produced simultaneously by (a) contacting a hydrocarbon oil with a hydrotreatment catalyst; (b) passing the entire effluent to a 1st hydrocracking stae for contact with a catalyst comprising a Gp VIII metal on a modified zeolite support (pref. modified by a sequence of alternate ion exchanges and calcinations) contg. =1 amorphous mineral oxide; (c) sepg. a motor fuel and a jet fuel from the effluent; (d) passing the fraction of the effluent boiling above the jet fuel range to a 2nd hydrocracking stage for contact with a catalyst comprising Ni on a cracking support; and (e) recovering a motor fuel fraction from the effluent.
