The body has three openings (6, 7, 9) for pipes and a fourth (8) which is used as a guide (5) for the valve slide (2). This is a hollow cylinder and has O-rings (3, 4) at each end. When closed, an annular space (10) around the valve (2) permits flow along one set of pipes (6, 7). A central boss (11) in the slide takes the actuating rod (13) which passes through the body of the valve and into the bonnet (17). Actuation is by compressed air on one side of a piston (14) for opening and spring return (16) for closing. A bleed (18) gives visual indication of leakage past seals. All parts are accessible for cleaning.
