The mounting comprises a pair of blocks (5) of elastomer material and of hemispherical section. The top of each block has a central recess, while the lower part is solid, apart from a central passage for the head of the shock-absorber rod (8). The blocks are permanently pre-loaded between two pairs of cups (3) whose edges are turned up to form rims. The degree of curvature of the blocks can be determined experimentally, so that compression between the cups causes the surface of the top hollowed-out part to roll under the cup with which it is in contact, and also so that a very low return force is exerted on angular displacement of the rod.
