The top surface of the heat exchanger collector (4) has its outer periphery formed into a groove of U section, the outer leg having intermittent extensions (7). The outer periphery of the reservoir (5) is formed into a semi-circular rim (8). To join the two components together, a formed rubber sealing ring (9) is placed in the groove, the rim placed on this, and the extensions (7) are folded over onto the reservoir periphery to clamp the assembly. Depending on the metallic compositions of the two components, the form of the sealing ring is varied to give either full (10) or no metal to metal contact (9a) at the inner corner of the U groove.
