Compsns. contg. vegetable extracts - for treatment of Seborrhoea, Pityriasis, Alopecia and capillary Anoxemia

A new prod. for the treatment of seborrhoea, pityriasis, alopecia, and capillary anoxemia contains the following vegetable extracts, horsetail extract 25-30% by vol, nasturtrium extract 23-25%, sage extract 23-25%, marigold extract 12-15%, ginseng extract 12-15%. The extracts are usually hydroglycolic, 1 kg of plants giving 5 kg of extract. A pref. solvent for the extracts is ethylene glycol ether mixed with an aq. alcoholic soln. of sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate (2%), which has good penetrating properties. The horsetail extract supplies silicon to the compsn., while the marigold improves local circulation, acts as a peripheral vasodilator and stimulant, an antipellicular bactericide, and controls the sebaceous glands. The nasturtium extract regulates the sebaceous glands, reinforces the protecting sheath of the hair, and is a bactericide. Sage has antiseptic and oestrogenic properties, stimulating hair growth, while ginseng is a tonic and has a follicular -like activity.
