Plectrum for strumming string instruments e.g. guitar - has hole to facilitate holding plectrum

The plectrum, e.g. for use with a guitar, is held between the thumb and index finger, and is used to strum the strings of the instrument. It is made from a thin disc of plastics tortoiseshell, etc. with an approximately triangular shape, the edges at the side gripped by the user being rounded. To prevent the plectrum slipping between the fingers, the zone (4) of the plectrum which is gripped by the user has a hole (3), e.g. of circular form so that the tips of the thumb and index finger contact one another through the hole (3). The part of the plectrum used to strum the strings of the instrument has a rounded point (1).
