A woodworking machine for making window frames has a work surface with a set of cutting tools arranged along it in line, positioned so that a single length of rectangular section timber is first planed along the under side, then an edge, then the opposite edge is shaped, then the first edge is shaped in a similar manner. Next the top surface is planed, then a right angled cut is made in the first edge then a similar cut is made in the opposite edge. Finally the length is divided axially into two symmetrical members by a circular saw set at angle, the cut faces being sloping. Any further machining is carried out on the two lengths separately.
