Mol. sieve sepn. of n-paraffins from hydrocarbon mixts. - with purging between desorption and adsorption

In the sepn. of hydrocarbons (esp. n-paraffins) from hydrocarbon mixts. by means of a mol. sieve adsorption/desorption cycle, a purge step is included between the desorption step and the adsorption step. The presence of desorbent in the mol. sieve after desorption reduces the amt. of n-paraffin adsorbed in the initial stages of the adsorption step (until all the desorbent has been displaced); its removal prior to adsorption thus increases the amt. of n-paraffin which can be absorbed.
