Very low voltage incandescent lamp - has male plug portion with transformer fitting into standard bulb socket

The unit uses a bulb of very low voltage which is connected by a male plug portion (1) to a conventional female lamp socket. The plug can be of the bayonet or screw type, as can the socket. The housing accommodating the transformer with its four poles can form with the plug and the socket for the lamp a single unit. The design allows instantaneous replacement of a bulb running directly off the mains by a low-tension one, which greatly reduces current consumption.
