The pressure vessel with domed ends (10) and cylindrical body (1) made from a relatively soft steel alloy and with a connection (11) each end has a aluminium wire around its body, outside which is a set of light steel alloy bands (4 to 9) each side by side to match the body these being assembled so as to apply tension to the body, and being preferably shrunk on. The yield point of the band is greater than the yield point of the body, and can be 70 Kp/mm2 and 35 Kp/mm2 respectively. The vessel can be 1,400 mm diameter by 300 mm long and can operate at a pressure of 400 Kp/cm2 at a temperature of 300 deg.C.
