A double effect lifting mechanism for a drilling platform as in the main patent has a gear pinion driving a toothed rack inside a carrier where primary reduction members are connected to them, driven by brake motors. Pressure arms are connected to the drilling platform by sleeves and bearings attached to axles. One pressure arm works in compression with a ring when the telescopic part of the second arm is extended, the latter being connected to the carrier by a hub and a shaft and the other arm being connected to the carrier by a shaft and bearings.
