Low foaming detergent compsns - prepd. by mixing polyorgano siloxane with anionic and non ionic detergents and auxiliary detergent salt

Low foaming detergent compsns. for heavy laundry is prepd. by contacting (A) a particulate, touch-dry base detergent compn. of particle size 0.01-3mm, comprising a water soluble org. anionic detergent (I) and an auxiliary detergency salt (IIe which is water soluble and neutral to alkaline, the wt. ratio of (II):(I) being 1.6-37.5:1, with (B) an antifoam compn. comprising 45-95 wt.% of an org. nonionic detergent (III) and 5-55 wt.% of an organosiloxane polymer (IV) of viscosity 5-90,000 cS at 25 degrees C, the whole compn. contg. up to 3% (IV) and the wt. ratio of (IV):(I) being =1:150. Pref. (B) is sprayed onto (A) at 30-50 degrees C, the 'spray particle size being 0.001-0.5 mm. By premixing (IV) with the detergent compsn. instead of mixing it in situ, i.e. during washing the antifoaming properties of the compn. are improved. The compn. is also stable and shows no tendency to micellisation. The stability of any added perfume is not affected during prolonged storage at high temps.
