A pedal assisted motor cycle which has a centrifugal clutch, and a second clutch which must be operated while the pedals are being used to start the engine, has a single lever to operate the clutch, open a decompression valve, then close the valve before the clutch is disengaged with the motor running. This lever, connected to the clutch by a Bowden cable, has its pivot pin through the handlebar clamp and has a segment with a second Bowden cable to the valve. When the lever is pulled beyond a set position, the second Bowden cable is operated by a stop arrangement to control the clutch. A pretensioned spring ensures that when the lever is pivoted beyond the set position the sheath and core of the first cable are moved together.
