Safety practice hand grenade - pattern of grooves on casing prevents fragmentation and arm prevents escape of charge

A practical hand grenade for military exercises, has a safety device consisting of an arm which fits into the explosive head and prevents the escape of the ignition charge, and maintains the pressure. The explosive head carries a pattern of grooves designed to prevent fragmentation of the casing, but forming the regions of breakage after the explosion of the charge. This pattern may be star shaped, or the lines of breakage may be separately independent. The safety arm consists of a sealing lever around the firing mechanism, and its end is directed away from the direction of the explosion.
