The motorcycle disc brake has hard metal discs (12) fitted to the structure of the wheel, to rotate with the wheel, and two ring shaped sets of brake pads (7) spaced around the wheel to provide an even braking force. The brake pads have a high friction coefficient material and are applied from both sides of the disc by hydraulic pressure. In this way a progressive, controlled braking force is obtained with no lateral pull or instability. The hydraulic pistons (21) operating the brake pads are arranged in parallel to the common hydraulic pressure source.
