The housing is intended for rotary, slide, or sensor switches and consists of at least two housing parts, with its front end covered by a closure plate (3). The latter is on one side held by the first housing part (1) and on the other side by the second housing part (2) by means of abutting and/or jaw-shaped limiting lugs (10, 11) which are formed on the two respective housing parts. Preferably the two housing parts are held together by a clip which may be formed directly on the two housing parts in the shape of a clipping protrusion and/or the protrusion retaining recess. Additionally the two housing parts may be held together by a screw, rivet or dowel connection.
