Ethylene polymsn. catalyst consists of (1) a component prepd. by grinding together (a) TiCl4, TiCl3 or a compsn. contg. TiCl3 as the main component, (b) a Mg halide, and (c) a siloxane polymer, and (2) an organoaluminium cpd. Catalyst is highly active and gives high yields of polymer with a low content of catalyst residues. No purificn. of polymer is required. The polymer obtd. has a high apparent density, a high stereoregularity, and a narrow mol. wt. distribution.
