The motorcycle transmission has a chain which is maintained at constant tension, whatever the position of the driven wheel. The driven wheel, when the suspension operates moves in the arc of a circle, having the chain drive wheel as its centre. The suspension is of a type which can be varied for the height of the motor cycle above the ground, hence varying the drive geometry, the suspension being of the oscillating arm type with fixings co-axial with the chain drive wheel. The chain drive wheel is carried on a thin supplementary shaft driven from a gear box shaft to enable this.
