Appts. is used for winding yarns into packages, with hollow inner spindles, for loading into a dyeing unit, the yarns being wound from a distaff. The winding bobbins are provided with two sets of rods between the bobbin end flanges, where one set is of rigid rods, while the other set is composed of rods riding in profiled slots so that they move outwards under the centrifugal forces of bobbin rotation during winding. The wound yarn is formed in a package of a greater diameter than the bobbin rods so that the dyestuff can circulate freely through the yarn, and the yarn can shrink to its final form without hindrance.
