The cover-piece (1) covers the expansion-gap (4) between sections (2, 3) of a structure-the sections consisting of reinforced concrete girders. The cover-piece (1) consists of a resistant core (5) placed horizontally between the framework sections (2, 3) and resting on right-angled ledges (6, 7) in the sections (2, 3). The core (5) is contained partly in a metal cup (8) preferably of thin sheet-metal. A plug (9) of fire-proof material, is inserted between the cup (8) and the ledges (6, 7) on which it rests. The base of the cup (8) is convex, with the plug (9) underneath having the same concave shape of the underneath surface. The rims (12) of the cup (8) join the verticla sides of the ledges (6, 7) by means of layers (13) of adhesive resistant to high temperatures.
