The pens are built against a conventional wall (1) on bearers (2) supported by a low wall (4). The floor is made up from sections in reinforced concrete (5) with their ends resting on beams (2), above a dung pit with ventilations holes (10) leading through a wall (4) to a space beneath a feeding passage covered with concrete slabs. The pens are separated by slatted concrete partitions (6). The floor sections are slatted, the slats having a cross-section tapering towards the bottom, to allow the dung to fall through easily into the dung-pit. The third wall is formed by a feeder assembly (24) hooked over spacers (22) and consisting of a trough (25) and a restrictor plate (26).
