Quaternary 3-alkyl-imidazolium halides - with microbicidal activity against bacteria, fungi and yeasts, for use as disinfectants

Imidazolium salts of formula (I): (where R1 is 1-3C linear alkyl; R2 is H or when R1 is Me, R2 is H or Me; R3 is 8-16C linear alkyl; X is Cl or Br) are water-sol. antibacterial, antifungal and anti-yeast activity for use as disinfectants in food factories, diaries, butcheries, sausage mfr. and in hospitals. Main values as an alternative microbicide to avoid formation of resistant strains of organisms.
