STRENGTHENING PRESERVATION AND REPAIR OF ROOFS

1438485 Slated roofs J A HUMPHRYES 4 June 1973 [3 March 1972] 9923/72 Heading EIB [Also in Division B2] A method of strengthening or preserving or repairing a slate roof or tiled roof of the kind in which slates or tiles are hung on battens or similar supporting members comprises applying a coating to the inside surface of a roof of plastics material in liquid form, together with a reinforcing material other than glass fibres (optionally mixed with glass fibres), and setting or causing the plastics material to set. Preferably the reinforcing material is applied in the form of a woven or non-woven sheet or tissue and is made of polyethylene terephthalate. The plastics material may not extend over the whole of each slate or tile but must cover all of the battens. The reinforcement sheet may be attached to a strippable or permanent impermeable backing sheet for ease of application. The invention relates to improvements in that disclosed in Specification 1160570.
