1403784 Dyeing polyamides TOYO BOSEKI KK 9 Oct 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 46528/72 Heading D1B Hydrophobic fibre materials are treated with a dye reserving agent which forms a covalent bond with amino groups present in the fibre, the dye reserving layer having a thickness of less than two microns and is formed by applying the dye-reserving agent only to the surface of the material followed by a dry-heating process. Preferably the dye-reserving agent is present intermittently along the lengthwise direction of the fibres and is applied by application from aqueous media followed by drying at less than 50‹C followed by dry-heating. After application of the dye reserving agent the fibres may be subjected to a turbulent stream of high pressure gas which forms a mist of the agent which recovers the fibres. The dye reserve agent may be contained in the high pressure gas or may be applied to unstretched yarn in which case the agent is fixed by hot stretching. Halotriazinyl halopyrimidinyl, haloquinoxalyl and haloacrylamido compounds may be employed as dye reserve agents. The fibres treated may be blended with untreated fibres and dyed with anionic dyes.
