Coalescence of emulsified oil drops - by contact with the walls and angles of flow channels

Drops emulsified in a liquid are coalesced in a series of channels. The drops contact the walls and esp. angles between walls. Use is made of the phenomenon that the difference between the adhesion between the wall and the drops and the cohesion of the drops is greater than the difference between the adhesion between the walls and the continuous phase and the cohesion of the continuous phase. Method is used esp. for coalescing oil drops emulsified in water. Method produces lower final contents of emulsified oil than usual with this type of equipment.
