Loom preventing uneven beat-up of weft on restarting weaving - by lifting warp threads, increasing tension and pulling fabric

A loom of the type in which the back rest, over which the warp ends run from the beam, is supported in slots in the free ends of a pair of pivoting arms, and in which there are levers with which the back rest can be lifted vertically in the slots, has the levers working with the moving details of a cylinder and piston rod arrangement. A valve system is fitted in a pneumatic circuit which operates for a short time when the loom is started up, to feed compressed air to the cylinders so that the back rest is lifted in the direction of increased warp tension. Eliminates 'starting up stripes' with the picks over a number of beating-up further forward at one side then the other, by temporarily increasing the tension on the warp threads.
