Overflow water from a drainage system to aerated in an complex of ponds. at least two ponds are used and one lies higher than the other. A pump lifts water from the lower to the higher level. The overflow feeds to the lower pond. The return flow from the higher to the lower level includes at least one waterfall. W'en overflow drain water or similar effluent must be bled off before it reached an effluent treatment plane. The effluent is mixed with surface water and is quickly aerated so that the condition, of the ponds remains suitable for supporting fish.
