The folded shopping bags are stored flat and automatically opened up and placed on a rack. The rack is located at the downstream end of the checking conveyor (2), and this is the conveyor on which the customer unloads the goods for accounting by the cashier. The flat bags are stored under the travelling conveyor (24) located underneath the check-up conveyor. When the bag is full, the trolley may be raised onto a secondary conveyor and carried out beyond the cashier to allow the next customer to be attended to. The bag loading machine is on rollers so that it may be withdrawn for refilling or maintenance.
