The diluent may be alphaalumina, glass beads or siliceous sand. The catalyst may comprise an inorganic copper salt, e.g. the chloride, deposited on an activated alumina support of surface area 150-400 sq. m/gm. The charge may be of a particle size 20-200 microns with a mean diameter of 40-90 microns.
