1382551 Copolyamide fibres MONSANTO CO 5 Jan 1973 [7 Jan 1972] 702/73 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] Fibres having a degree of lateral order of #40% are formed by melt-extruding a copolyamide, and are then drawn to impart molecular orientation, and heated to 80-280‹ C. under tension in an inert environment to convert to crystalline form, the copolyamide comprising randomly recurring units of 6TA (hexamethylene terephthalamide) and 6IA (hexamethylene isophthalamide), there being 60-80% wt. of 6TA units. The fibres have a boiling-water shrinkage-value of 20%. Glass transition temperature #150‹ C. at 0% relative humidity (R.H.) and #50‹ C. at 100% R.H. Initial modulus (g./den) is #70.
