An electric current pickup, especially for a trolley bus, uses a long rod with a slip shoe carrier on its end. There is a slip shoe which is in direct contact with a live wire. Between the current take-off rod (7) and the slip shoe (1) is a torsion spring element (4, 8) which damps horizontal and vertical impacts, forces and vibrations which act on the slip shoe (1). Specifically, a lever arm (3) is connected to one end with a shaft (2) of the slip shoe (1). At its other end it is pivot hinged, so that it is horizontally damped, to the slip shoe carrier (5) connected with the current take-out rod (7), by means of the torsion spring element (4) which has an approximately vertical axis (4a). Similarly, there can be vertical damping.
