The power cable has parallel electric lines (V) fixed in holders (IV) at periodic intervals enabling motion of the lines relative to each other only to the extent allowed by the selected elastic properties of the lines and holders (III) and the selected tension in the lines. The pickup is shaped so that it is centered between the lines by the action of a suitable force and simultaneously makes contact between the conductors and contact plates. Independent claims are also included for the following: a hydraulic lifting and pivoting arrangement for a current pickup.
