Cross-linked polyamides polyimides or polyamideimides contg. siloxane gps. and with 0.2-38 wt. % Si are prepd. by heating to 50-350 degrees C (150-225 degrees C) a mixt. of (A) a pre-polymer, with inherent viscosity 0.04-4 of formula (I) (I) (where X is a = 0-100, m = 1-2, R1 is -(CH2)x-, x = 1-4, R2 is an aromatic or heterocyclic gp. in which the COOH gps. and CONH are on different ring C atoms and each COOH gp. is ortho to a CONH gp. R3 is not 2C aliphatic gp. a cycloaliphatic, araliphatic aromatic or heterocyclic gp. and Q is CH3, phenyl or OY, where Y is 1-6C alkyl or phenyl) and (B) =1 cpd. of formula (II) (where Z' and Z2 are each Me or Ph, and q is 0-1000).
