Suction refuse vehicle for removing leaf, dust, grass cuttings and rubbish from large areas has a motor powered selfpropelled suction unit. A collector vehicle (2) is coupled to the suction unit (1) by a flexible hose (9) which connects to a refuse intake (10) at the top of the vehicle. An air vent (16) in the collector has a dust filter (17) connected to it. Preferably the collector should be a standard size container (13) which has a separate lid (15) which mounts the refuse intake and the air vent pipe (16). The container should have a large outlet vent pipe (16) alongside the intake (10) for the hose (9), the pipe (16) enclosed by a bag filter (17).
