Pulse shaper produces fast rising and falling rectangular pulses - from two sine half waves or pulses using two opposite poled snap-off diodes

The pulse shaper producers small rectangular wave pulses with very fast rise and fall times from two sequential pulses or sine-wave half-periods of opposite polarity. A resistor (9) is connected in series between the input (1) and the load, and two shunt circuits connect each end of the resistor to the load/input junction. Each shunt circuit consists of a snap-diode (Di, D2), - the two being oppositely poled and reverse biased in the quiescent state. The first input pulse (or sine half wave) forward biases the output-side diode (D2), whilst the second input pulse forward biases the input-side diode
