A cross country vehicle has a driving cab (2) which is a self supporting watertight unit containing the drive unit (7). The engine is mounted behind the driving seat in a trough in the cab floor between two longitudinal chassis members. The engine is mounted on flexible elements (18) fixed to auxiliary supports (13) carrying the driving cab unit. The cab is suitably reinforced at the engine mounting area. - Hollow watertight containers (24) run the length of the driving cab above the front wheel arches. The containers are accessible from outside of the cab and may be used to store fuel, batteries or other auxiliary equipment. Air containers (8) may also be fitted inside the cab space. Lifting hooks (15) facilitate cab unit removal.
