The sieve box is for use with a series of box sieves which are mounted one on top of another in a layered series such that the external sieve box forms a cubic or rectangular framework with a sieve attached to the top of te framework and a base plate of horizontal design at the framework base. It has ribs (11) attached to the top surface of the base plate (10) at right angles to the direction of vibration (x) of the sieve assembly which receive the finest sieve material. The ribs (11) are formed from two intercutting angled surfaces (11', 11").
