Paper web spreading cylinder - having core supporting central and end sections with end sections journalled in self aligning bearings with radially displaceable races

Spreading cylinder having a hollow core with stub shafts and journalling by means of bearings a central cylinder and outer cylinder portions is provided with means for radial displacement of the ends of the outer cylinder portions remote from the ends of the central portion. These means including a pair of sleeves journalling the inner race of the bearings. - The sleeves are concentric with the axis of the stub shafts and mounted axially slidably on the shafts but prevented from relative rotation w.r.t. the shafts or one another. The co-acting faces of the sleeves are inclined at angle w.r.t. the axis of the shafts. - Sagging of hollow cylinder core can be readily compensated.
