The grid assembly, for a gas-filled spark gap-chamber particle detector, has grids consisting of several parallel wires held in a frame. The wires in adjacent grids are not parallel. The grids are insulated from one another. Those parts of the frames lying in the direction of the taut wires are made of the same material as the wires i.e. tungsten. - The parts of the frames in which the ends of the wires are fixed a are made of ceramic strips partially metallised to give hard solder connections to the wires. The tungsten wires are gold-plated and mutually insulated.
