A method for the production of aluminum - magnesium - alloys with improved voltage as a function of the corrosion resistant

Mg-Al alloys are stabilised to give increased strength without deterioration of stress corrosion resistance. Treatment comprises in order: heating to 343-427 degrees C for 1-16 hr at a rate lower than 27.8 C/hr and cooling at same rate: prestabilisation at 107-190.5 degrees C for 15 min-24 hr, and cooling, prior to 5-90% cold reduction: final stabilisation at 107-190 degrees C for 15 min-24 hr.
